An innovative, strengths-based, growth-focused approach to supporting others as a “peer ally” in times of crisis and intensity. with the goal of fostering meaning making and recovery. Guided by best practices for mental health peer support and suicide prevention, informed by the recovery model, humanistic psychology and lived expertise, Growing Through training seminars cultivate individual skills and confidence for supporting others in these difficult times, including effectively using one’s personal experience.
Peer Support SPACES:
Skills Training for Everyone
A 10-hour foundational course that prepares people to support others in any situation, SPACES is exceptional skills training for those new to peer support.
Crisis Ally Support Skills
Crisis Ally training is grounded in humanistic values, dignity, recovery and cultural humility. Recognizing the individual journey of change and role of trauma and injustice plays, Crisis Allies connect to empower others through difficult times, and foster 'authentic compassionate encounters' with a focus on safety and healing for all.
Heart of the Artist
This initiative begins with the positive aspects of creativity, the unique needs as well as the resources artists can provide to themselves and others, and the challenges of careers/vocations in the arts with a focus on growth and recovery. Practices to provide self-care, support skills and peer support groups to the arts community, grounded in best practices for mental health and suicide prevention.
